Take two longtime friends with Global Entry and TSA pre-check who can fit 2 weeks into one carry-on, love the smell of jet fuel and have an insatiable appetite for traveling all roads, and you get the duo behind 3 Days*. Kirstin Winkler and Ana Tiwathia believe in the power of adventure and have seized every opportunity and often spent every penny in the pursuit of exploring this incredible planet of ours. They have gallivanted, danced, trudged and walked through over 40 countries each and lived on 5 different continents between them, feeding their gypsy souls with unforgettable memories, their suitcases with beautiful fabrics and their bellies with (sometimes) questionable delicacies. As life, careers and babies happened, lengthy trips had to be whittled down to long weekends. This is how 3 Days* was born.
Kirstin grew up in Germany (no, she doesn’t sound like SNL’s Dieter (any longer)) and had her fill of ornate castles, stone churches and ancient fortresses exploring Europe during her childhood. Now a California transplant she is most drawn to epic landscapes, exotic food markets and adrenaline inducing activities. Her independent soul recharges on solo trips, but a travel partner is always welcome. Bungee jumping in New Zealand, breaking bones in Namibia or experimenting with Ayahuasca in South America… give her a dare and she’ll probably take it. Ana balances her WASPy roots with a Bohemian upbringing, a strong dose of New York sass and extensive yoga training. After spending most of her 20s wandering around (figuratively and literally), she met and married a dashing UN worker and moved to Africa. Now she splits her time between Jerusalem and their home in Brooklyn, juggling two homes and poking around Europe, the Middle East and Scandinavia at every opportunity, baby explorer #1 in tow (who has more stamps in her passport than teeth in her head). She travels for the perspective, the refreshment, and the hotel breakfasts.
Like sistas from different mistas, these two approach each locale with their unique mindset and deliver well-rounded guides that will make you want to join them on their next adventure. The bite-sized guides can be taken piece-meal or built into larger itineraries. If jaw-dropping vistas, chaotic shouks, obscure art venues, specialty cocktails and refreshing night swims sound good to you, the site will inspire you to follow in their footsteps. Recommendations combine the beloved and the unusual. From thrifty to splurgy (always with good reason) the guides offer versatile experiences that allow the traveler to immerse themselves in their chosen destinations. Whether you are a seasoned traveler or an utter novice, just leaving grad school or getting ready for retirement, 3 Days* serves up the travel inspo.
So go on… Buy the ticket, take the ride!
